Reflection on the role of Ecclesiology in the Reformed Churches of South Africa has produced a constant flow of publications, mainly in the field of Church History and Church Polity. Due to the history of the Reformed Churches since their inception in 1859 these publications are mainly apologetic in character. This view of Ecclesiology reacted strongly against the influences of Methodism and Collegialism in South African ecclesiastical developments.
