Abstract

In this article the following aspects of secularization are discussed: what is meant by secularization, how it has developed, its main causes, the characteristics of secularized life and thought, the consequences of secularization, and the views of several theologians practising a secularized theology. Furthermore, the issues of the Biblical perspective of what today is called secularization, and the calling and duty of the church facing the challenge of secularization are discussed.
