The aim with this article is to explore a method for the utilization of socio-historic data in the interpretation of the motive of alienity in 1 Peter. In the first place the applicable Greek words are given. Thereafter the state of the art on alienity in 1 Peter is discussed, and preliminary definitions of the meanings of the words are given. The methodological fundamentals for a socio-historic study of alienity in 1 Peter is then given and discussed. The article ends with a strategy for discovering and utilizing applicable socio-historic data.
