Abstract

“To read the Bible sensitivelyand in its richness” – in conversation with Amie van Wyk
In response to Prof. J.H. van Wyk’s review of Gerrie Snyman’s book “Om die Bybel anders te lees: ’n etiek van Bybellees” (2007) the author proposes thatthe issue is contextuality, neccesitated the moment the human aspect rears its head in the process of reading the Bible. Contextuality is juxtaposed with an objectivist approach. The article also inquires into as- pects of rationality, Pneumatology, Christology and the theologi- cal justification of apartheid together with the theological justifi- cation of keeping women in the RCSA from the offices of elder and minister as a test case for reading the Bible differently.
